About
Founding

Agricultural engineering is one of the main measures associated with agricultural development and modernization. Under fundraising and sponsorships were collected and the Agriculture Engineering Research Center (AERC) was founded on the 14th of May 1970, under the approval of the Ministry Of Economic Affairs, and registered on the 16th of December 1971, at Taoyuan District Court. The Agricultural Engineering Research Center is a non-governmental, not-for-profit research organization. The governmental supervising agency of AERC was the Ministry of Economic Affairs change to the Council of Agriculture (COA), Executive Yuan in 1989.

Organization Task
Introduction

The Agricultural Engineering Research Center (AERC) is a Nonprofit & Non-governmental, supervised by the Council of Agriculture since November 1989.
History

Agriculture is the foundation of our country, and engineering is the foundation of construction. Therefore, “Agricultural engineering is the foundation of national construction”. In the 1960s and the 1970s, traditional farming methods were upgraded along with the development of the national water conservancy and agricultural technology. Fundraising and sponsorships were collected and the Agriculture Engineering Research Center (AERC) was founded on the 14th of May 1970, under the approval of the Ministry Of Economic Affairs, and registered on the 16th of December 1971, at Taoyuan District Court.
Mission
Since AERC establishment, we has been paying attention to the development of agricultural engineering in Taiwan, and assisting government agencies and agricultural institutions to development of Agricultural engineering ecology and fishery engineering design, agricultural water resources survey analysis and research applications, GIS technology applied to farmland water conservancy and water resources, the policy and Promotion of agricultural water purification and inspection technology and agricultural disaster management.

Organization
The Center consists of the departments of “Resources”, “Engineering”, “Environment”, “Information Technology”, “Administrative”. Elites from all professional fields gather to contribute to the advancement of Taiwan’s agricultural technology and environmental sustainability.
Principles
The AERC has improved with time and technology. Constant investment has endeavored to improve domestic agricultural development. We hold on the foundation of non-profit, agricultural technology-oriented development, while exploring advanced knowledge. The Center continues to contribute to our society with the following principles: “Agricultural automation, scientific-based irrigation management, agricultural big data utilization, clean agricultural environment and its quality, and optimized water and soil utilization”.
International Exchange

Academic and International Cooperation
The AERC has improved research results by signing contracts with the NTU. The College of Bio-Resources & Agriculture have collaborated on projects with university professors and academic research institutes across the world.

Meanwhile, international collaborations with the International Water Management Institute and the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) for the enhancement of research level, as well as other experiences and personnel exchanges with the U.S.

Israel, UAE, Burkina Faso on agricultural water systems. On the New South Bound Policy, the Center moves onto Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam to share agricultural engineering planning and management experiences. Collaboration memorandums have been signed with the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources,

Participative Irrigation Management Center. Worldwide service is now imparted as part of our vast coverage.
Thailand

Taiwan and Thailand exchange technology related to geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS), and go to Thailand to handle GIS workshops (Mobile GIS, Web GIS) to promote the application of geography in the Krasie irrigation scheme under the jurisdiction of Royal Thai Irrigation Department (RID). The information system technology is used for irrigation management to improve the efficiency of agricultural water use in Thailand, and to promote the export of irrigation technology and irrigation technology in Taiwan is farmland water conservancy and cooperation with the southward countries.

Vietnam
The Center and the Participatory Irrigation Management Center of the Vietnam Institute of Water Resources signed a memorandum of cooperation in September 2008 to clarify the cooperation issues and schedules of the two sides, and establish a model of exchange and cooperation between farms and waters in farmland, including water-saving irrigation, geographic information systems and Technologies such as the Internet of Things (Iot) are used in agricultural irrigation management applications.
